The Supernatural BattleHE MAY head up the most unusual paranormal investigation team in the world — and not only because it’s made up of Bible-believing Christians.

Richard J. Grund, host of Reflections in the Dark and author of The Supernatural Battle: A Field Manual, formed the Supernatural Response Team in the late 1980s after he realized the church is generally unprepared to address the questions of people looking for answers to unexplained phenomena. He talks about his ability to see into the supernatural realm, what he calls his “demonic gifts”, an encounter with a fallen Watcher, and the types of cases his team will tackle as they seek to educate people about the enemy’s devices.

Derek and Sharon Gilbert will be at the Prophecy in the News Pikes Peak Prophecy Summit July 25-27, 2014 at the Marriott Hotel in Colorado Springs. Watch for information here.

  1. This guy sounds well meaning. But pychologically speaking, there is an ego thing going on I feel. He has a need to be special, and although he praises the Lord (like I said, he is well meaning I think) he has encounters that sound like someone trying to be looked on as special.

The idea of encountering a Watcher is… dubious to say the least. We need to be careful to have discernment even with other Christians. Otherwise we can fall into that weird UFO cult type of system. People in that system are kind of yes men, self perpetuating a false world view. When people that say they visit Saturn on holidays are just believed almost without question.

  2. Paul, I don’t want to be argumentative here, and I don’t know you beyond your post, but your response is pretty much what Cris Putnam, Richard Grund, etc, and plenty others have been talking about in the church.

I would ask why is the idea of someone encountering a supernatural being, watcher, fallen supernatural entity, etc dubious?

I can’t speak for Mr. Grund, and I can see where you are coming from about ego, however I felt inclined to point out or ask if say Moses, Aaron, Joshua, Elijah, Elisha, etc…Jesus, the Apostles were still around speaking in authority from the Lord with confidence would they also be considered people trying to be looked on as special.

Now with that said, I believe the Spirit gave me a thought this morning as I was listening to Russ Dizdar who also says the Church reacts to the supernatural in a bad way, but I digress. I wondered if those in the fringe areas of Christianity, primarily those with ministries on the internet are putting to much emphasis on how bad the Church is in these areas and not enough emphasis or enough time and energy into trying to teach those that will listen in the Church? I know Mr. Grund said he has given up, but I guess what I’m trying to get at is if this “attitude” against mainstream is not part of the problem? As I said, it was a thought I believe the Spirit opened up to me to ponder on as I pick up the pace in my own areas of interests in these topics.

    God Bless,
Derek as always your show is edifying to me.

    1. Roy,

thanks for your feedback, but I am not coming from the idea that the supernatural world doesn’t exist. Only that if experienced, it should line up with scripture or historic text of some kind.

So far I can’t find examples of his experiences, and the only references to watchers may actually have them chained up till the day of judgement. I really believe that some people are using this new supernatural trend to fleece the less studied because it sounds more fun.

      My 2cents. 🙂

  3. I have watched some of Richard’s videos and visited his website.

I just can’t get into a Christian supernatural response team that invokes copyright laws to protect their multimedia property; and uses readings obtained from high-tech ghost-detecting instrumentation to support some of their conclusions regarding events that purportedly take place in the spiritual realm.

Help me to see where my reasoning may be wrong.

  4. Paul,

Good evening and again not to be argumentative, but “Watchers” is seems to simply be the name of rank or title of a supernatural position. Sort of like a job title. So I would say any example of fallen supernatural activity or in this case fallen angelic activity is an example of Watcher activity from scripture, but this is just simplifying it for the sake of quick discussion.

To an extent, I agree with you, because I’ve always been iffy on the whole 30 foot thing when I heard him say it. However, we don’t know much about that class/ position from direct scripture other than they took on daughters of men, had offspring and were more than likely the angels chained up in Jude 1:6, but this does not include all of them. Even if you lean towards Enoch, that only listed 200 and not all of them. So that leaves the door open for Mr. Grund or anyone else to have a bad experience with one and room for it to manifest 30 feet tall.

I must admit, I have not gone deeply into any of his videos or his book. My only point of contention was that your initial statement could have been applied to any one of the prophets, apostles, disciples and even Jesus from history and that your reaction, and to some extent Peter’s reaction is what guys like Cris Putnam, Doug Overmeyer, Russ Dizdar, and Richard Grund are talking about. I can’t speak for you as you might not be from the same country, but in the U.S. nearly all of Christendom is raised with a naturalistic viewpoint in mind while professing a belief in a supernatural world. So nearly all get knee-jerky when you start talking about the supernatural. However, let me make this clear, if Mr. Grund is contrary to scripture then I am not defending him, I’m only agreeing with the points in which he, and the others I mentioned are making about the need for the Church to wake up to the reality of some of this stuff and come to terms with how to deal with it.

    God bless,
    Roy
