The Final BabylonWHAT ROLE does America play in end times prophecy?  Most assume that the United States do not appear in scripture, which leads some to conclude that something happens to take teh USA out of the world picture before the events that lead up to the Second Coming.

Doug Woodward (www.Faith-Happens.com) and co-authors Doug Krieger and Dene McGriff of The Tribulation Network disagree.  They joined us at the Prophecy Summit at Pikes Peak to discuss their new book, The Final Babylon: America and the Coming of Antichrist.  They suggest that America is not only mentioned in scripture, it is at the very center of prophecy — and will be the power base of Satan’s conspiracy against the Kingdom of God.

This interview is one of about two dozen recorded over the three days of the Prophecy Summit at Pikes Peak, July 26-28, 2013. To see these interviews with all of the presentations from the Prophecy Summit, please visit our friends at Prophecy in the News.

  1. One of the bad and destructive consequences of placing the Babylon of the Revelation somewhere else prophetically, than in Europe and Rome, is that it opens for the catholic heresy, and for it to regain its political goals of world dominion, and actually fulfill its role in prophecy.

Up until the last 30 years or so, every protestant christian held that the great Babylon in Rev. is Europe, and Rome. So what happens if someone stops believing that? Firstly, it makes the whole drive of the protestant movement erroneous. If Rome, and the CC wasn’t the great Babylon and the great whore, then the whole antagonistic history between protestantism and catholicism seems unneccesary. It takes away the reason for the Reformation. It makes the reformers seem like dividers. It puts the blame on them for all the wars that followed. It will further the ecumenical confusion/blurring and open the way for a false unity with catholicism. Also in the political realm.

I see nothing but destruction following such ideas and teachings.

Someone asked me: “What do you think it means that Washington D.C.’s layout and architecture are virtually identical to the Vatican’s right down to that obelisk?”

The answer God gave me was:

It doesn’t mean anything. It’s as [name hidden] said, the freemasons tried to undermine what God did when he opened the american continent for the protestant refugees from Europe to give them a free nation to live in. I see it as a parallel to how the nephilim gibeonites tried to undermine the ancient Israel’s nation and even took part in the building of the temple. It didn’t change what God had decided and preordered.

  2. I’m confused by the previous post. The Catholic Church is not identified specifically anywhere in Scripture, just as the United States is not specifically identified. The argument made by the authors, in this and other pod casts and blog posts, is reasoned and logical. In fact, their explanation gives a much better view of the “tens toes of iron mixed with clay” in Nebuchadnezzer’s dream.
Two problems stand out with our willingness to accept the authors’ proposition. 1) Believers are woefully ignorant of Hebrew and Greek. 2) Much of what has been done by the Catholic Church is based on trying to fit prophetic events into a timetable made by men and not God. God has a timetable, and He revealed it in His word. See item one.

  3. I would love to hear these interesting and animated gents interviewed again. This interview, I could hardly pay attention for the rustle-y fidget-y sounds the mic was picking up. Without a visual, the extra noises become insistently overriding and it got so stressful to listen to, I almost just quit. Today, I can’t really remember what they had to say, which is a shame.

Life- I can’t see that it logically follows that if Rome isn’t Babylon, then the Reformers were doing the wrong thing. They didn’t take on the Catholic church because they were battling Babylon- they were setting out to correct egregiously wrong theology. Whether Rome is believed to be Babylon or not is immaterial to noticing its atrocious handing of Christ’s work.

I understand your point about those mics. We will have to look at another option for next spring.

  5. Mystery Babylon in the time of the great tribulation will be the city of Jerusalem.
