ONE OF the most discussed topics among prophecy scholars is the timing of the events of the End Times.  Offering a new take on a subject that’s been debated since the time of the apostle Paul is difficult.

Doug Hamp, author of Corrupting the Image: Angels, Aliens, and the Antichrist Revealed and the forthcoming book The Millennium Chronicles, joined us at the Prophecy Summit to explain why he believes that, contrary to common belief, the new heavens and new Earth will be created before the millennial reign of Jesus Christ.

This interview is one of about two dozen recorded over the three days of the Prophecy Summit at Pikes Peak, July 26-28, 2013. To see these interviews with all of the presentations from the Prophecy Summit, please visit our friends at Prophecy in the News.

  1. Doug’s comment about the book of Revelation being thematic instead of chronological reminds me of a study of Jeremiah that pointed out it was not in chronological order. Being raised in a home where my grandmother had friends who taught prophecy as a greater part of their ministry with the “charts and graphs”, it’s no wonder I accepted the chronological motif.

  2. I don’t really like the player. I can’t rewind to hear something I have missed. I forget about, try to rewind and end up at the very beginning all over again. it gets frustrating 🙁

  3. I wish you would have pressed him to offer an explanation for the problems with the theory of the seals, trumpets, and bowls being the same 7 judgements. For example: Rev. 8:1-2 states that angels are given the 7 trumpets upon the opening of the 7th seal. The 4th trumpet describes sun, moon, and stars being darkened, yet during the 4th bowl it is so hot that men are scorched. The 1st trumpet deals with vegetation, yet the 1st bowl is a judgement on followers of the antichrist.
Is his theory of thematic rather than chronological impossible? No. However, if it is to be considered, I would like to know his explanation of these discrepancies.
    BTW, love the show!

Good points, Byron. I’m still a noob in the field of prophecy study, but even I should have caught that one.

Doug will be back on the show within the next few weeks and I’ll do my best to remember to ask him then.
